Maria Korosis Dr. Moore EDUC 325 March 1, 2011 February 28th Observation Write Up Taylor and I had a very successful first and second observation day in Miss Flaherty’s 4th grade classroom. On the very first day, we were able to get acquainted with the layout of the classroom. We learned a few of the students’ names and what a typical math lesson was like in that classroom. On the second observation day, the class had a guest speaker who introduced a new type of learning that would be happening in the classroom. The student helped compile a list of ideas on a piece of paper at the front of the classroom. This part of the class took about half an hour. The second half of the class was for the students to cut out pages from their workbooks. Taylor and I were able to walk around the room and help struggling students. The students in the class are very well behaved. Nobody has spoken out of turn or been in trouble which is kind of surprising to me. They are only nine-year-olds! Next time Taylor and I are in the classroom we are going to be working centers. We will each get a group of students (probably three or four) and work on an activity for fifteen minutes or so. The groups will rotate, and we will begin again.
